Practice Lab

CCL Scholars participate in the Practice Lab throughout the academic year. Practice Labs are specialized sessions designed to “practice” skills introduced over the summer. Scholars explore more hands-on content with NYU schools and dive into career exploration while applying skills for critical thinking, writing, interviewing, networking, and more.

CCL Scholars will have the opportunity to participate in service-learning projects that provide useful leadership training and volunteer experience with local, community-based organizations and NYU schools and offices.

The Practice Lab takes place for one day in September, October, November, January, February, and April. Program dates are determined in the summer each year and follow the NYC Department of Education academic calendar.

As scholars move through high school, the Practice Lab focuses more closely on supporting students through the college application process or determining a post-secondary pathway that suites their needs. We’ll help students map their postsecondary pathways and answer questions like, what are my options after high school? What is the FAFSA? When should I apply to college?
